2.5 weeks in review

We’ve arrived at our Southern California destination (Westminster) all in one piece, praise God! The moving dotted white lines should stop playing in the back of my eyelids in a day or so. We logged 4,072 miles, posted a total of 38 blog entries and 142 (select) photos over (yes, Rachelle blogged a dozen times.) • Seeing many old friends and family: my parents and brothers in Winchester, Virginia; in Raleigh — Jon & Yvonne Meader + Joe & Tina Chen, and others; in Charlotte– Steve Knight; in Atlanta– David Park; in Dallas– Dave & Lucy Wang
• Meeting new friends along the way: in Atlanta– Danny Yang, Jeff Shinabarger; in Little Rock — pastors Mark DeYmaz and Jay Robison (cf. Jay’s writeup about our lunch meetup)
• sobering moments: Virginia Tech campus, Oklahoma City Memorial
• most comfortable clothing: for me, the bright orange Under Armour Virginia Tech logo polo shirt bought in Blacksburg en route
• biggest detours with pleasant surprises: art museums in Birmingham and Oklahoma City (can you say Chihuly?)
• best borrowed gadget: GPS navigation equipment
• disappointment of the trip: spotty intermittent Internet connections even with a mobile Internet card
• best Jeremiah sound bite: I can’t find the kid’s meal!
• most provocative concept: moving without a moving truck
• best driving segment: off-road 4-wheeling in North Rim Grand Canyon towards Point Sublime

Blogging will resume here at the top of next week, no need to blog into the weekend when readership typically declines. Plus it’s summer vacation season, so readership is typically lower for months until the new school year starts up.
